Breast Augmentation
Breast Augmentation in Bedford, NH
Breast augmentation increases fullness and projection, elevates the breast, and can correct asymmetry for patients who feel their volume or shape doesn’t match their goals. Dr. Steven L. Brown, a board-certified plastic surgeon, performs breast augmentation for patients from Bedford, Manchester, and across southern New Hampshire.
Is Breast Augmentation Right for You?
Good candidates are healthy adults who want more breast volume, improved shape, or better symmetry, including after pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight loss. Patients with more significant breast sag may need a breast lift performed at the same time for the best result. Dr. Brown will review your goals, anatomy, and implant options during your consultation.
About the Procedure
Dr. Brown offers both silicone and saline implants; the right choice depends on your preference, body type, and goals. Implants are placed through an inframammary or periareolar incision, most often beneath the pectoral muscle. Surgery is performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia at the Bedford Ambulatory Surgical Center. Implant cost is included in the surgical fee.
Recovery and Results
Most patients return to desk work within about a week. Soreness, swelling, and tightness are common early on, and a supportive bra is worn during healing. Strenuous exercise and heavy lifting are typically restricted for several weeks. Implants settle into their final position over the following months. Ask us about bioCorneum scar treatment, available for purchase in our office.
Breast Augmentation FAQs
Should I choose silicone or saline implants?
Both are safe, FDA-approved options. Silicone tends to feel more like natural breast tissue, while saline implants are filled after placement. Dr. Brown will help you choose based on your preference, body type, and goals.
Where are the incisions placed?
Implants are placed through an incision in the fold beneath the breast (inframammary) or around the edge of the areola (periareolar).
Will I need a breast lift too?
Patients with more significant sagging may need a lift at the same time for the best result. Dr. Brown will let you know during your consultation.
Do breast implants affect mammograms?
Implants can require additional mammogram views. Dr. Brown will discuss how implants may affect mammography, and you should always tell your imaging center that you have implants.
How long is recovery after breast augmentation?
Many patients return to desk work in about a week, with exercise and lifting restrictions for several weeks.
