Breast Reconstruction

Breast Reconstruction

Dr. Brown works with the CMC Breast Center to perform breast reconstruction following both full and partial mastectomy, and to treat congenital or acquired breast deformities. Techniques utilized in reconstruction are individualized for each patient and often include treatment of the contra lateral breast. These methods of reconstruction include; two stage expander and implant reconstruction, TRAM flap reconstruction from the abdomen, latisimus muscle reconstruction from the back, immediate implant placement, and fat grafting. Appropriate reconstruction decisions are made through collaborative discussions with the breast surgeon prior to the mastectomy to maximize both the curative and aesthetic result. The patient is typically referred to the office by the breast surgery center. Care is also coordinated with the oncologist and the radiation oncologist when they are involved in the patients treatment.
